Other Stuff: All We Like Sheep in Durham Cathedral…

…But here’s something for after the long weekend. If you’ve picked up the kindle version of La Femme (going for a song), and flipped to About The Authors, you may have noticed I’m spending some of my spare time (Hahahaha! Haha! Ha!) as a choral singer at the moment. Here’s why.

DCYC - Handel's Messiah

“For half a century, Durham County Youth Choir has introduced generations of young people to the joys of choral music. Many continue to enjoy singing as choristers and soloists long after their time in the choir. Indeed, some have gone on to professional musical careers. To celebrate 50 years of Durham County Youth Choir, members both past and present are combining to perform Handel’s Messiah with soloists drawn from the current choir and its alumni.” [Link]

So, the Saturday after Easter, that’s where I’ll be – in Durham Cathedral, along with more than 100 alumni and current DCYC members, singing about how much we like sheep.

I think that’s what it’s about, anyway.

If you’re into your opera, you’ll delighted to hear that alumnus Helen Bruce is amongst the soloists for this. And, well, it’s also the first time I’ve sung in public for about fifteen years (sober, anyway) – certainly the first time as an Alto – so no pressure, like.

If you’re in the Durham area on Saturday 26th April, and you fancy popping along, tickets are available now from the Gala Box Office.
