After weeks of events, here’s something for those of you outside the UK as well as those inside it. Shoreline of Infinity 31 features my brand new Noise and Sparks column, ‘Case 3 in the Multiverse of Madness, Or Everyone Everywhere All At Once’.
Fans of SF movies might recognize a couple of references in there, and it’s for good reason. This time round, I’m talking about what it’s like living in a place where COVID-related restrictions have lifted, but you’re still taking precautions to protect vulnerable family members. As for Case #3, well, this particular attendee of Norwescon 2022 decided to keep going to panels even though they tested positive and were experiencing symptoms.
How do we account for such cases while protecting vulnerable members of our community or family? How do we balance the return to “normality” with the knowledge that the pandemic isn’t really over? How do we live in such world where two such different perceptions of risk exist, they might as well be separate realities? In ‘Case 3 in the Multiverse of Madness…’, I explore my experiences and thoughts on these difficult questions.
