Thanks to everyone who made it to the Scottish Writing Centre last week, where the first ever reading from my novel-in-progress got an amazing response from the crowd! Wish you’d been there? Fear not. Over the next two weekends you catch me reading in-person, plus chatting online with Premee Mohamed and Ren Hutchings! Check out the details below…
First up, this coming weekend (27th – 29th May) is Satellite 7 – the first Satellite con since lockdowns began! You’ll find me at two events on the Saturday 28th May. Firstly, at 6:30pm, I’ll be taking part in the traditional Great Satellite 7 Debate in Aoede/Alt. A selection of attendees and me will be arguing which extinct, fictional or mythical creature we would bring back and why. Then at 8:30pm, head to Shoreline of Infinity Presents: Event Horizon in Arch/Main, where I’ll be reading from my current novel in progress, along with Ken MacLeod, Cat Hellisen, and GSFWC buddies T.H. Dray and Neil Williamson, so do join us!

Then Cymera Festival gives Scottish fans their second SFnal weekend in a row, taking place over 3rd to 6th June (Jubilee weekend). #Cymera2022 will be the event’s first hybrid festival, and I’ll be lending a hand with the virtual part on Sunday 5th June at 4:30pm, when Ren Hutchings and Premee Mohamed will be joining me for ‘Multiverse Mayhem’ live on stream!
I’m looking forward to spending this week diving into Ren Hutching’s Under Fortunate Stars – what a title! – and the final thrilling installment of the Nick Prasad story / Beneath The Rising trilogy, The Void Ascendant, by Premee Mohamed. Premee and I last appeared together on the Dublin 2019 installment of Werewolf versus Shark on the Speculative Spaces podcast, so some nerdy chat is long overdue. And since Premee just won a Nebula award for ‘And What Can We Offer You Tonight’, you can bet that’ll be on the menu too!
